Sommet de l’Élevage is one of the world’s premier livestock trade shows and Europe’s leading event dedicated to animal agriculture.
Held annually in Clermont-Ferrand, France, it brings together livestock producers, genetics companies, agribusinesses, researchers, and industry leaders from more than 100 countries. The event showcases the latest developments in livestock genetics, animal health, nutrition, farm technology, and sustainable farming, alongside competitions featuring some of Europe’s highest-performing cattle, sheep, and equine genetics.
With around 120,000 visitors, 1,800 exhibitors, and more than 2,000 elite animals on display, Sommet de l’Élevage serves as a global platform for knowledge sharing, innovation, and international business development. Technical conferences, farm visits, and networking opportunities provide attendees with valuable insights into the future of livestock production, making it a key event for anyone involved in dairy, beef, sheep, and agricultural industries.
LIC’s French distributor, Progenes, was among the exhibitors, with its stand attracting strong interest from breeders seeking genetics suited to grass-based production systems. Throughout the event, visitors engaged with the Progenes team to learn more about New Zealand dairy genetics and breeding approaches that support fertility, efficiency, and profitable milk production from pasture, highlighting the growing international interest in pasture-based dairy farming.
Great to hear amongst the visitors to the Progenes stand was a group of Irish Farmers we welcomed to New Zealand in late 2025 as a part of one of our farmer tours. Great to see our global community coming together.
