Proven Genetics for Chile’s Pasture‑Based Dairy Heartland

The LIC International team is proud to bring our very best genetic offerings to Chilian dairy farmers.

About us

LIC International, based at our New Zealand headquarters, works alongside ABS Chile to connect Chilean dairy farmers with the best of New Zealand’s pasture‑based genetics. This partnership has been in place for almost a decade, supporting genetic progress across a wide range of production systems throughout the country.

Today, LIC genetics are used on the majority of pasture‑based dairy farms in Chile, from large corporate operations to smaller, family‑run businesses. This widespread adoption reflects the proven fit of New Zealand genetics within Chile’s grazing environments, where efficiency, fertility, and lifetime performance are critical to farm profitability.

Chile’s dairy industry is strongly grounded in pasture‑based milk production, particularly across southern regions where grazing, grass silage, and forage form the foundation of herd performance. In these systems, success relies on fertility, feed efficiency, robustness, and cows that perform consistently on grass—principles closely aligned with New Zealand’s pasture‑driven dairy model.

Developed and tested in pasture‑based systems, LIC genetics help Chilean dairy farmers build productive, resilient herds that thrive on grass and deliver reliable results in grass‑fed dairy operations.
