Brazilian agribusiness group visits LIC Headquarters

LIC was pleased to welcome a group of South Brazilian and some Uruguayan agribusiness professionals to its Newstead headquarters in Hamilton recently, as part of a wider study tour across New Zealand.
The group included predominantly beef producers, alongside researchers, consultants and young professionals involved in rural management.

Visiting from Brazil (with a small number from Uruguay), the delegation is part of GTPA (Future Agricultural Thinking Group), a university-led initiative focused on knowledge exchange and agribusiness development.

During their visit to LIC, the group gained an overview of New Zealand’s dairy industry and LIC’s role within it, with a particular focus on how LIC’s genetics, technology and herd improvement services support productive and efficient farming systems.

A key area of interest for the group was New Zealand’s unique beef-on-dairy system, where dairy genetics and management practices contribute significantly to beef production. With many of the visitors primarily involved in beef farming, this provided valuable insight into how integrated systems can drive both productivity and profitability.

The visit forms part of a broader itinerary exploring New Zealand’s agricultural sector, including farm visits and engagement with leading industry organisations. The group is particularly focused on learning from New Zealand’s pasture-based production systems, management practices, and innovative approaches, while also sharing experiences from South American farming systems.

At LIC, we value opportunities like this to connect with international farming communities, support knowledge exchange, and showcase how our farmer-owned co-operative is helping drive sustainable, efficient livestock production both in New Zealand and around the world.
